The Psoas (pronounced so-as) is located behind the abdominal muscles deep within the stomach core. Growing out of the spine the Psoas flows through the pelvis and attaches at the top and front of the legs. Sometimes known as the ‘muscle of the Soul’, the Psoas behaves like a messenger: informing of disruptions of the function of other muscles. And it also compensates dysfunctional muscles, often causing lower back pain. The Psoas can become exhausted and dehydrated.
In this XL yoga class we will explore awareness of the Psoas. With gentle movement and yoga we will learn non invasive techniques of relaxing, releasing and re-hydrating this amazing, hard-working muscle. A healthy, functional Psoas, is fluid, flexible, strong and supportive.
